(2017) “job satisfaction is the attitude and feeling of employee about their job. This can be categorized into two groups and these are positive and negative attitude” (p.1). Job satisfaction is essential for every organization to succeed. According to Taheri et al. (2020) “Job satisfaction mainly is a mental attribute and it depends on the employees and varies from person to person which means that basically, it represents the emotional consequences that enable employees to perform at the organizations” (P.1). “In other words, job satisfaction is the attributed compactness of physiological, psychological, and environmental states to perform the designated role” (Taheri et al., 2020, p.1). Pandey et al. (2017) also stated that “the optimistic attitude of an employee’s experience based on their desired result is acknowledged as job satisfaction; This shows how the expectations of the employees for job are fulfilled in comparison to the veracity of their job (p.1). “There are five important facets of job satisfaction and these are- Salaries, Promotion opportunities, Supervision, Nature of work and Colleagues” (Pandey et al., 2017, p.1). Taheri et al. (2020) also stated that “It is considered that, if employees are not satisfied with the rights, working environment, behaviors of coworkers, and supervisors in decision making then they detached from the organizations and the dissatisfied employees are being jobless and the organizations need to recruit new employees which made the organization cost again for the same task” (p.1). There is a relationship between job satisfaction and working environment and job satisfaction and employee satisfaction.
Good and healthy work environment promote job satisfaction. According to Taheri et al., (2020) “Job satisfaction depends on the working environment and by providing the most the facilities with the working environment it is possible to make the goal of an organization accomplished” (p.4). “A large amount of studies has already been made to grasp the role of the working environment and over time it gains more importance to study the impact of different levels of working environment with job satisfaction; This means that the study implies that organization productivity depends largely on the physical condition of the working environment” (Taheri et al., 2020, p.2). “The organizational environment and social relations at work also become the main reason employees are satisfied or unsatisfied” (Taheri et al., 2020, p.5). According to Taheri (2020) “job safety, employee security, better understanding among coworkers and supervisors, working hours, and wage rate could be the parameters to study the working environment and its impact on job satisfaction” (p.4). “But the situations will prevail as the working condition is not up to the mark and therefore, the organizations need to make sure about the environment of performance for the employees to get better output from them by setting the proper standard of their rights, working environment, and behavior of coworkers and supervisors” (Taheri et al., 2020, p.1). According to Taheri et al. (2020), “The working environment has two dimensions; The first one is the physical condition of the working place and the second one is the social condition and results have shown that the worst scenario comes from those organizations that give less importance to the working environment” (p.1). “And, working environment complies with the job security, employee’s safety, appreciation of the performance, motivating facilities, and maintaining good understanding among the coworkers and supervisors and the employee’s attachment with the organizations strengthen by receiving proper importance from the organization” (Taheri et al., 2020, p.1). “Although, factors like wage rate, flexible working period, involving employees in decision making also play a vital role for the better working environment and both employees and supervisors face critical situations if one of them is not responsive to the other and it happens when the supervisor doesn’t give proper assessment or employees do not share ideas” (Taheri et al., 2020, p.1). “A proactive management system gives a better working environment rather than of reactive management system and attaining the goal of an organization depends much on the understanding between employees and supervisors whereas the smooth flow of information plays a vital role to run the organization” (Taheri et al., 2020, p.1). “Employees seek a more comfortable working environment; This is not just for the requirement, as it is the demand for highly qualified employees” (Taheri et al., 2020, p.4). Thus, there is a positive relationship between the working environment and job satisfaction because the organizational environment become the main reason employees are satisfied or unsatisfied.
Employee motivation promotes job satisfaction. According to Ali et al., (2020) “there is a relationship between motivation and job satisfaction, which is the principal of any organization’s existence” (p.2). Taheri et al., (2020) a research “found that appreciation develops the employees for long-term motivation while the physical condition of the working environment can’t ensure job satisfaction” (p.2). “Employee satisfaction has been a key area of research among industrial and organizational psychologists and some people like to work and they find working an important part of their lives, some people on the other hand find work unpleasant and work only because they have to. Job satisfaction tells how much people like their jobs” (Ali et al., 2021, p.2). According to Taheri et al. (2020) “Motivation as a trigger in increasing work satisfaction and quality has a significant psychological impact on a company’s strategy in various business operations” (p.5). Motivation also plays an essential role in an organization’s success. According to Paais et al (2020) “motivation is crucial for employees so that the work that has been charged can be carried out, as it should be per the company’s operational standards” (p.2). There is a positive influence between motivation and influence. Motivation is fundamental in organizations as it influences employees to be competent workers. According to Ali et al., 2021 “The importance of employee satisfaction and work motivation is growing all the time in the companies” (p.1). “Motivated employees are more oriented towards autonomy and freedom and are more self-motivated compared to less motivated employees, which causes development opportunities to benefit them” (Paais et al., 2020, p.2). According to Kuswati (2020), “employee performance is closely related to the results of one’s work in an organization or company. The results of the work can involve quality, quantity” (p.2). The two types of employee motivation include intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic motivation is the satisfaction of oneself due to their achievement, and extrinsic motivation involves motivation derived from external factors such as awards and compensation. Intrinsic motivation influences job satisfaction, performance, organizational commitment, and work ethics. Paais et al. (2020) also stated that a study that was conducted in 2012 to identify the role of intrinsic motivation in Islam work ethics “found that the Islamic work ethic has a more significant effect on intrinsic motivation and organizational commitment than their impact on job satisfaction and job performance” (p.2). “Research reveals that appreciation always provides good outcomes than physical condition because physical condition never dissatisfied employees” (Taheri et al., 2020, p.2). “Employees are likely to stay in organizations where they believe that their capabilities, contributions and efforts are appreciated” (Ali et al., 2021, p.2). Thus, employee motivation promotes job satisfaction as it has a significant psychological impact on a company’s strategy in various business operations.
In conclusion, there is a relationship between job satisfaction and working environment and job satisfaction and employee satisfaction. There is a positive relationship between the working environment and job satisfaction because the organizational environment become the main reason employees are satisfied or unsatisfied. Employee motivation promotes job satisfaction as it has a significant psychological impact on a company’s strategy in various business operations. By promoting job satisfaction, employees are retained which leads to low employee turnover and increased productivity.
