Analyze three of the following five elements of fiction to either The Turn of the Screw or A Christmas Carol: PLOT, CHARACTER, POINT OF VIEW, SETTING, and THEME. For each element you choose, describe how it is applied in the work of fiction in question. For example, in analyzing the plot of a story, I would ask you to let me know what sort of plot is involved (chronological, in media res, etc.), as well as what the Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, and Denouement would be. Identifying the point of view of a work involves not only naming it (first person, third person limited, etc.) but also telling how that affects how the reader experiences the story.
1. Please compare and contrast The Turn of the Screw and The Others in a few short paragraphs, making sure to use your understanding of the elements of fiction, drama, and literature to describe several similarities and differences that you see.
2. Please compare and contrast A Christmas Carol and one of the short stories we read in the course, making sure to use your understanding of the elements of fiction, drama, and literature to describe several similarities and differences that you see. For example, consider how we learn about Ebenezer Scrooge, what kind of character he is, and how he compares to other characters we have encountered. Or how does the setting of A Christmas Carol compare to others we have encountered?
